From Blacksmith Workshop to Agricultural Equipment Manufacturing

  • 1860s
    • Founder worked as an on-site blacksmith in Ogura, Kanayama Village, Chita-gun (near Kanayama-cho, Tokoname City)
  • 1881
    • Established Blacksmith Workshop in Haruki Village, Aichi-gun; started manufacturing and sale of forged agricultural equipment
  • 1921
    • Developed gear-driven threshing machine; changed company name to Togo Agricultural Equipment Manufacturing
    • Acquired a patent in 1923; started manufacturing and sale of Togo threshing machine, an unique product by Togo

    • Invented and expanded the use of a special flat hoe called "Bunka-kuwa" (presented to the Emperor)

From Agricultural Equipment to Spring

  • The Sino-Japanese War
  • 1938
    • Started textile industry (hand towel)
  • 1940
    • Changed company name to Togo Seisakusyo; started manufacturing of small springs
  • The Pacific War
  • 1943
    • Started manufacturing of automotive springs (for Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.)
  • 1945
    • Became an associated plant of Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (in the field of valve springs)
  • 1947
    • Reorganized from a private company to a corporate body; established Togo Seisakusyo Corporation
  • 1948
    • Received Grade A Certificate from the Minister of Commerce and Industry for clutch spring; certified as an Excellent Automotive Parts Manufacturing Plant
  • 1949
    • Received Grade A Certificate for valve spring
  • 1950
    • Withdrew from agricultural equipment manufacturing

Switching to a Small Spring Manufacturer

  • 1957
    • Established the motto of "Always dedicate to society with products far better than those of yesterday!"

  • 1963
    • Formed Togo Seisakusyo Labor Union (Federation of Japan Automobile Workers' Unions); consistently developing harmonious relations between labor and management since then
  • 1973
    • Developed hose clamp (Togo's main product)
  • 1980
    • Established Nagiso Spring Corporation (Kiso-gun, Nagano Prefecture)
  • 1985
    • Constructed No.5 Plant [Current KOSAKA PLANT] (inside Togo Town Industrial Park)
  • 1987
    • Received PM Excellent Plant Award (Class 1)

  • 1988
    • Established Quality Spring / Togo (Michigan, the U.S.)
  • 1996
    • Quick connector was selected as Good Design Product
  • 1999
    • Received QS-9000/ISO 9001 Certification

    • Received ISO 14001 Certification

    • Established Scherdel-Togo Co., Ltd. (Miyoshi City)
